Learning Intention:
I am learning to understand the rights of consumers and to understand the responsibilities of producers
Consumer -
What I think: A consumer is a person who buys and uses products and services.
What the internet says: "A person who purchases goods and services for personal use."
Producer -
What I think: A producer is a person or business that creates or supplies those products and services.
What the internet says: "A person, company, or country that makes, grows or supplies goods or commodities for sale"
What I think I've consumed in the past week:
Bought costume items.
Bread
Chips
Fish
Hot water
Internet
Meat
Vegetables
Fruit
Clothing
When I've come in contact with a producer
I went to McDonald's with Brayden
I went to a costume store
I went to a clothing store
What are my consumer rights?
What we are entitled to as a consumer
Consumer rights are protected by the Consumer Guarantees Act. The CGA protects you from bad deals faulty product sales and allows you to seek a fair deal.
Responsibilities of Producers
Produces must ensure that their goods and services meet the CGA. This means their goods must be fit for purpose and services fair.
The CGA
Under the CGA, your consumer rights are expressed as a series of guarantees that a seller automatically makes it to you.

The Art of Ta Moko
Moko is the art of the Maori facial tattoos. Originally, they were used to symbolise significant and specific life events. This meant that only extremely important events would allow for additions to be made. These tattoos were only allowed after the individual has reach adolescence, had fasted for a certain amount of time, and they have attended a ceremony with their iwi, which involved music and dancing.

Social Studies Maori Presentations
LI (Learning Intention):
To understand the life of Maori prior to Europeans arriving and it's connection to today's society.
My research is about the Maori Waiata (Song) Nga Tamariki O Matariki.
I found the information about the composer, Erana Hemmingsen and the connections the stars have to everyday things quite interesting.
I think I presented my work well as well as finding decently interesting information
Next time I would want to choose a different subject, one with more information to find.

Dictator Charaterisics
What is the country that is called Burma also known as and who is the leader of the country now?
Myanmar, Win Myint
Who was the most infamous dictator of the 20th Century and what country did they rule?Myanmar, Win Myint
Adolf Hitler, Germany
History has set the precedent for the stereotypical dictator to be a narcissistic, war hungry, manipulative, sociopathic, intelligent, megalomaniac, pathological liar. To be honest, what sane person, who doesn't have any of these traits, would fight or persuade their way to the top then abuse their power over their country. Though, in theory, dictators won't always do bad and abuse their power but name one infamous dictator that hasn't shown at least one of these traits so far. For example, Hilter made his way into power after Germany's president, Paul von Hindenburg, died as he took himself from being chancellor to being Führer (a mixed between the chancellor and the president.) From there, he made sure he couldn't be removed from power through many actions, which, is pretty manipulative if you ask me... I'm not exactly saying all dictators will always have all of these traits. Only most of them.

New Zealand's Government.
New Zealand’s government is a democracy, with parts of Monarchy. We have a system called an MMP, Mixed Member Proportional which is a democratic system but also have a monarch at the head of our government. A Mixed Member Proportional operates by the voter voting twice. One vote is towards the political party the voter chooses. This is the party vote. The second vote is to choose the MP the voter wants to represent the area they live in. This is called the electorate vote. For the electorate vote, it’s a majority vote, you would not have to get over half the votes to win. The party vote largely decides the total number of seats each political party gets in Parliament. In the current rules, a party that wins at least one seat or 5 percent of the party vote gets a share of seats in the Parliament that is the around the same as it’s party vote. For example, let's say a party gets 30 percent of the party vote, they would get around 36 MPs in Parliament. With this system, our country is counted as a democracy.

One Of The Dealiest, Yet Most Life Changing, Mass Shootings In The UK
This is my Social Studies video on The Dunblane Massacre. I call it the most life-changing, as it was the mass shooting that made the government decide to tighten the gun laws in the UK.
This is the transcript of the video for if you don't understand! -
The Dunblane Massacre. Known as the deadliest mass shooting in UK history. The perpetrator, Thomas Watt Hamilton was a 43-year-old ex-shopkeeper living in Dunblane at the time. At 20, he volunteered at Boy Scouts as a leader.
Originally, in July 1973, he was appointed an assistant. Later that year, he was seconded as the leader of a troop which was currently being revived. Many complaints were made, a lot to do with sexual harassment towards the young scouts.
After a while, Hamilton was blacklisted by the association.
Though the true motive was not discovered, many believe it was out of anger towards those who spread rumours that caused the many sporting clubs he ran to be stopped, others think he was angry at the Scouts Association for banning him.
March 13, 1996, Hamilton arrived at school at half past 9 am. He proceeded to cut the cables on the telephone poles.
He entered the school, armed with 4 guns. One of the teachers, Gwen Mayor, had just entered the gym with her class of 29 when he fired a couple shots before entering the gym.
He began opening fire, wounding many. He left the gym and headed towards the library and other facilities before returning later, dropping the previous gun and choosing another to end his own life.
18 people died that day, including the teacher, Gwen Mayor, and Hamilton himself. People began protesting for the gun laws to be changed.
Citizens launched the Snowdrop Campaign, which seeked change in the British gun laws. About 750,000 people signed a petition to change the gun laws in the UK.
The government listened to the residents and tightened the laws. Currently, the law states a ban on all cartridge ammunition handguns. This left only muzzle-loading and historic handguns legal, as well as a set kind of sporting handguns.

What Cultures Make Up 9Hh?
Our most recent group project in social studies was to, in groups, create a presentation about our cultures. Brayden, Jacob, Ella, Isaac, Jakita, Brianna, and I were the "European" or the "UK" group.
I learnt about the Welsh language and some things about Jakita's family history. Did you know that s'mae (pronounced Sam-i) is hello in Welsh?
This is our presentation, some slides aren't completely finished so I apologise.

Family Crest
In social studies, we were tasked to create a family crest, also known as a Coat of Arms.
This is mine:
What does it mean?
Koru - Most of my family lives in New Zealand and is the "Baby" version of a
silver fern, a kiwi icon.
Three Deer- on our original Rogers family crest had three deer on it, so I
decided to use this on here as well
Boat - The boat is the Edwin Fox, the boat my great and great great grandparents
came to New Zealand on. Also, two of my uncles have boats that we go on
sometimes
And that's my family crest!
