Let's Find A Connection

In English, we have been learning about how to connect fictional stories to real life.
I think we are learning about this so that we can take messages from said stories and improve our futures.

Willow Maid could be connected to how we as humans treat nature and even other humans as something that we can claim

Tarzan helped me to understand that there are still people in this world who are afraid of what they don’t know.

Avatar; The Last Airbender could be connected to modern day sexism where in some countries women are still believed to not be able to do things men do whereas other countries see these ideas as wrong.

Butterflies helped me to understand that just because somebody seems wrong, it may be because they’ve been taught differently

Avatar, The Great Divide helped me understand to put aside others’ differences and get on with what needs to be done

The Seahorse And The Reef could be connected to modern day pollution.

CW’s Supergirl, Welcome to Earth made me think about how many peoples’ opinions are plagued by others.

Disney’s Zootopia could be connected to racism and stereotyping.

The Taming of the Shrew by Shakespeare helped me to understand that while not every play is timeless, we can still learn things from them.

Ryan Murphy’s Glee, Never Been Kissed made me think about how people still have feelings, no matter how tough they seem on the outside.

  1. Awesome post, Sam!
    I like your witty titles.
Your post has a thoughtful introduction that leads into an organized piece of writing.
You have taken a close look at each story and what you think the messages are. Great stuff!
